Cruise Tasik Putrajaya - Malaysia

Officially launched in 30 August 2003 by the then Prime Minister Dato Seri Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad, Cruise Tasik Putrajaya (CTP) is an initiative by Perbadanan Putrajaya, the city’s authority and administrator.

As the cruise service provider in Putrajaya, CTP was set up to tap into the recreational potential of the unique 650 hectare man-made lake and wetlands which spans across the city’s landscape. CTP also serves to complement the city’s tourism appeal, allowing visitors to see and marvel at the many stunning sights and landmarks from a unique perspective.

Cruise services operated by CTP include sightseeing tours by perahu boats or air-conditioned cruise boats which also offer a dining cruise experience. Other tours include love boat ride, cocktail cruise, tea cruise, lakeside dinner, party/karoake cruise and private boat charters for functions or events.

Sights and landmarks covered by CTP cruises include Putra Mosque, Darul Ehsan Palace, Ministry of Finance, Ser Wawasan Bridge, Millennium Monument, Palace of Justice, Ser Saujana Bridge, Perdana Leadership Foundation, Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Seri Gemilang Bridge, Perdana Putra (Prime Minister’s office) and Putra Bridge.

The CTP office and ticketing counter is located at Jeti Putra, underneath Putra Bridge. Entrance to Jeti Putra is from the Dataran Putra, where the Putra Mosque and Prime Minister’s office is located.

Traditional Cruise

The fleet of perahus which are named “Dondang Sayang” offer a romantic and nostalgic way to see Putrajaya.

The open-air gondola-like perahus come in two traditional designs – the Payang and Kolek, both seating four or six persons. The perahu is operated by a single boatman and the pleasant ride is accompanied with Dondang Sayang music onboard.

The two types of Perahu Dondang Sayang plying the waters of Putrajaya are actual replicas of traditional fishing boats used in the East Coast of Malaysia. The open-air perahus come in two unique designs – the Kolek (curved bow and stern) and the Payang (straight bow and stern) and were designed to suit the high seas.

Local material is used in the construction. The hull is made of the best local hardwood found in our forest – the Chengal Mas. Each piece of wood is specially selected and seasoned. From the seas of the east coast of Peninsula Malaysia in the yesteryears, these traditional boats have re-emerged on the lakes of Putrajaya.

Passenger Cruise

Belimbing is a fully air-conditioned 65’ cruise boat built specifically to carry passengers on a sightseeing cruise around Putrajaya Lake.

Named Belimbing, after the leatherback turtle in Malay language, the boat was specially designed with wraparound windows arching from armrest level to the ceiling, allowing all passengers clear and unobstructed view of the lake. This leisurely cruise takes a scenic route through most of Putrajaya’s stunning landmarks. Refreshments are served and a local cruise guide provides running commentary onboard.

Belimbing and Daun cruise boats are built specifically for cruising the waters of Putrajaya Lake. With twin catamaran hulls for maximum comfort when cruising, the boats' engines and exhaust system feature environmental-friendly features which eliminate soot from being discharged back into the lake.

Powered by twin jet engines, these boats have exceptional maneuverability and are able to ply waters which are just 1 meter deep. Each boat is furnished with plush interiors and fine trimmings while passengers' view is enhanced with a wraparound glass window arching from passenger seat armrest level to ceiling.
